Summary

Marco wants to tell Mr. Chavez why Isaac is not there, but he sees the roster for the team, and he has made the team. Marco wishes Isaac were there with him. He tells his team why Isaac is not there, but he does not mention his father’s drinking problem. He teaches the other players some moves Isaac taught him.

Isaac considers how the school will be sending out progress reports soon in Chapter 47, and he realizes how hard it is to get an A but that he is getting the best grades he ever has. His father recuperates from his injuries at Amá’s house. Marco reviews basketball plays on his chess board, and Isaac considers how all that he has won will not matter unless he can help Marco get the trophy he so desperately wants.
