Summary

In Chapter 14, Sophia and her friends stay at the Forthrast family home, and Sophia reflects on her relationship with Dodge.

As the group drives away from Iowa at the opening of Chapter 15, Sophia discusses how Dodge’s wealth created issues within the family following his death, with many distant relatives trying to get their share, and with legal complications limiting the share that Zula, and subsequently Sophia, received. Meanwhile, Zula runs the Forthrast Family Foundation in Dodge’s name, which Sophia plans on working at during the summer.

Chapter 16 opens with the group seeing Pete is following them, and he tells Sophia he hired Tom and Kevin for a different job.
