Summary
The narrator passes her final days in New York preparing for her trip to Berlin. She is unsure how long she will remain in Berlin. Some of her friends try to talk her out of possibly uprooting her entire life and moving to Berlin, but the narrator does not pay them any heed. During the narrator’s journey to Berlin, she is struck by the consistent friendliness of airport workers in Europe. In Berlin, she frantically searches for a place to live. She eventually is accepted as a roommate by a woman named Frieda, who is about the same age as the narrator, and who has even read some of the narrator’s online articles.
