Chapters 1-5 Summary
Myron Bolitar, sports agent, sometimes private investigator and former almost professional basketball player, is called in for a meeting with Clip Arnstein, the owner of the New Jersey Dragons, and Calvin Johnson, the general manager. Greg Downing, a star of the team has gone missing, and Arnstein would like Myron to find him. Arnstein is aware of Myron's undercover work for the FBI, and is well aware of his history in basketball, as he is the man that drafted Myron to the Celtics many years ago. Arnstein would like Myron to take on the roll of a player, hoping to gather information on Downing's whereabouts from the other players. Myron at first balks at the offer, but Arnstein convinces him with offers of a signing bonus and a guaranteed first round draft pick as a new client.
