Good versus Evil
Fablehaven, the novel, depicts the idea of good versus evil, though there are some non-traditional aspects of the theme, including Grandpa's reminder that none of the magical creatures on the Preserve are fully good. While the fairies obey Kendra's call and ultimately save the Preserve, they are powerful and selfish. They show that they are capable of being vicious. Other creatures also show the dangerous and evil aspects of their nature, but Kendra and Seth learn there are levels of evil when they face Muriel and Bahumat.
