Summary

Chapter 16 is “The Forgotten Chapel.” Seth, Kendra, and Grandma ride in a rickshaw pulled by Hugo. He is traveling fast, and Grandma says they will arrive in just a few minutes. Kendra is nervous and hopes it will pass once they are taking action. Seth and Grandma have magic dust but Kendra has not yet used any magic, meaning the magical creatures cannot retaliate against her. Once inside the chapel, Grandma tells Hugo to lead the way to the basement. He is to protect Grandma, Seth, and Kendra, but not to kill the creatures they encounter.

The moment they are in the basement, they see Grandpa and Lena chained to a wall. Kendra recognizes Mendigo, the limberjack puppet they saw at Muriel's shack, but it is now big. Muriel is now a beautiful woman, and it takes Kendra a moment to recognize her...
