Summary
Chapter 12 is “Inside the Barn.” Kendra and Seth hear a horrible groaning noise when they return home and find that it is coming from the barn. Seth kicks at a small door until he breaks it so they can get inside. Inside, they find a huge cow, almost as tall as the barn. Kendra quickly realizes that no one has milked the cow today, which is why she is bawling. Kendra says they have no idea where to look for Grandpa, but they may have “a new disaster on our hands” (213) if they do not milk the cow. They cannot find any equipment that looks like it will help and come up with the idea of jumping off ladders, grabbing a teat, and sliding down it. The process works, though they are soaked with milk by the time they fall to the floor...
