Summary

The third chapter is titled “The Ivy Shack,” and it switches to Seth's point of view. Seth knows he has a limited amount of time in the woods or Grandpa will find out. When he comes to a fork in the path, he piles up rocks to remind himself of the way back. He is startled when he encounters a porcupine. Though he wants to be independent, he wishes Kendra was with him. He approaches an ivy-covered shed and finds an old woman tied with a rope. She is gnawing on the knot.
