Chapters 9-11 Summary
In chapter nine, Lucas is called to Elizabeth Armistead's home. When he arrives, Lucas learns the details of the killing. After looking at the body, Lucas talks to the woman who found the victim, Cassie Lasch. Cassie tells him that it was unusual for Elizabeth to not appear for a performance and she was concerned about her, especially after she failed to answer a call regarding some free tickets a critic was requesting. Lucas thanks Cassie and gives her his card. Lucas goes back out to the front door and finds a patrol cop talking to a neighbor. Lucas establishes that the woman disliked Elizabeth because of her profession. As Lucas leaves the house, the press tries to get him to make a statement, but he refuses.
