Marralee
Marralee is the South Australian town where the novel is set. Marralee is a small community. Most of the people who have lived there, have lived there since their childhoods. Therefore, the Marralee townspeople's lives are interconnected and deeply entwined.
Falk returns to Marralee at the start of the novel for the Racos' baby's christening. He stays with Raco and Rita at the family's vineyard. Throughout the novel, Falk moves back and forth between the vineyard, the festival grounds, and the reservoir searching for answers to Kim's case.
After solving Kim's and Dean's cases at the novel's end, Falk decides to remain in Marralee. Granted a paid sabbatical from work, he uses the time to develop his relationship with Gemma and to contemplate his next work move.
