Summary
In Chapter 34, “Kim,” although Kim and Charlie had had problems before, they worsened after Dean’s death. Kim understood his grief, but thought he was acting suspiciously. Whenever he disappeared, she considered going “to the reservoir” to find him despite having avoided it for years (288).
Although Kim and Charlie “tried to work it out,” they drew apart (290). Kim took a job in Adelaide, bringing Zara with her. Each time Kim returned to Marralee, she ran into Rohan, realizing how “happy” she was to see him (291).
Things changed after Kim and Rohan got together. Charlie was jealous. Kim stopped talking to her friends.
