Summary
In Chapter 16, Dwyer knew Joel and Zara were unhappy with him. He told Falk there was no connection between Dean’s and Kim’s cases. He said he had done his best with Dean’s case but had never found the car or driver. When Falk mentioned Kim’s “attempted assault,” Dwyer argued that her friends must have known (145). Falk agreed that “close-knit” circles protected one another (147). This was why Dwyer suspected that Raco knew something he was not sharing. He wanted Falk to get him to talk.
