Summary
In Chapter 14, the kisaeng and her friend “fell in love” and became intimate (83). However, they saw the world differently. Unlike the kisaeng, the friend trusted people (83).
In Chapter 15, Jin returned her gallerist Chi Qui's call. Chi informed Jin that a Christian journal had ridiculed her triptychs in their publication. Jin had received much negative feedback from the Christian community since exhibiting the project. However, she also received positive reviews, commending the “tough, unsparing” nature of the series (85). Worrying she had “played it safe” with the photos, she hid them and refused to look at them after the exhibit (86).
