Prelude, Chapters 1-5 Summary
In a boat in the Philippine Sea, in violation of international law, Lieutenant Devolis and his Navy SEALs check their equipment. As soon as they land on the beach, they will have a two mile hike through the jungle. The eight men leave the Mark IV in a rubber boat, unaware that their mission has already been compromised.
In chapter one, White House correspondent Anna Reilly is on her Caribbean honeymoon with Mitch Rapp, a CIA operative. They had been married in a ceremony at the White House, and the event was kept out of the papers. They had traveled to the Caribbean in a private jet, using the names Troy and Betsy Harris. They had a deal that Anna would not pry into details about the CIA.
