Summary
Chapter 7 focuses on Scott and Teddy, the tenants evicted by Tobin after they allowed Pam and Ned to move in with them. Earlier in life, Scott had been relatively wealthy. He had left home at the age of 17 to attend college. After becoming a nurse, Scott worked at a nursing home, making up to $88,000 a year and renting apartments in nice neighborhoods. After he injured his back however, Scott became addicted to opioid painkillers. Without a doctor to supply the painkillers, Scott began stealing them from his patients at the nursing home. He eventually lost both his job and his nursing license. Scott deeply valued his license and turned toward even more regular drug use after losing it.
