Summary
Claude returns to Martin’s at Janice’s request to order more food. Once there, he locks himself in the bathroom to examine Janice’s gun, which he had been carrying in a duffel bag. A police officer comes into the restaurant, and asks Claude about the contents of the bag. Claude is terrified and cannot come up with a believable lie, but the police officer is distracted by her food and leaves him alone.
Back in the hotel room with Janice, Claude thinks about how he would be happy to run her errands for the rest of his life. They watch a show about inept criminals, and tell each other that eventually, they will be safe and be able to stop running. Claude asks Juna and her father what the Missouri police are like, and the father tells Claude that they will shoot...
