Summary
Chapter 30 is set seven months prior to present day. It was at this point that Carlos fixed up the lockbox with reminders of who Carlos was and the sort of life he had lived. At the same time, Carlos told Julian what might happen and that he would need Julian to teach him how to be a father again. Later, Carlos told Natalya that he had written two letters to James. One he had put in the lockbox and the other he had mailed to her to give to James.
Chapter 31 returns to the present day with James being woken from his nightmare. He is on the airplane on his way back to Hawaii. When he looks in his luggage for his phone he finds instead the letter Natalya had given him, addressed to him from Carlos. In it, Carlos tells...
