Summary
Chapter 19 is set in the present tense with James demanding to know why he would need to sign adoption papers. Realizing that it was Carlos who told her that he wanted her to adopt his sons Natalya tells James how Carlos had not trusted any of the members of James’ family, including himself, to take proper care of the boys. He realizes now why she has seemed so unhappy with him since she thought he was going to leave his sons in her care.
After that detail is smoothed over, Natalya seems more comfortable with James. They talk about his mother.
