Summary
In “Prologue: James,” which is set six months before the present time, James dreamed about Aimee. He had to protect her from his brother. Then, he and his brother were on a boat. His brother had a gun and was threatening him. He jumped from the boat and swam as bullets ripped past him. He has just bashed into the rocky shore when a young boy calling “¡Papá! ¡Papá!” (2) woke him. James did not know the child or know where he was. According to a mobile phone on the bedside table, it was December six and a half years after his wedding date. An older boy came into the room. When he realized James did not know who he was he pulled a metal lock box from the closet and gave it to him. Inside were a variety of mementos including Aimee...
