Summary
In the story “Everything’s Eventual,” narrator Richard “Dinky” Ellery Earnshaw tells himself and his reader that he should feel great because he had a good job. He was no longer working at the Supr Savr and Charles “Skipper” Brannigan, the co-worker who once tormented him, was dead. He refers to Mr. Sharpton, his new boss, who says the fringe benefits of his job are more important than the salary. Dinky has a house and car provided by the company. Dinky was also given $70 in spending money each week though he rarely uses all of it because most everything he needs is supplied for him.
There were some drawbacks. Dinky could not contact his old friends. He also was not allowed to save the money he had leftover each week. There were people who came in to clean for him and restock...
