Summary

In Chapter 3, "Crote Six," the police bring Lucia to the hospital. She is frantic, shouting that someone is trying to take her baby. The doctors put her in a room with another patient, Coco Washington. She and Lucia become fast friends.

The doctors call Miranda to report Lucia's hospitalization. She flies back to New York from Switzerland. Stefan does not think she has to go, but encourages her anyway. On the flight back she remembers flying with her mother from China after her father's death in an alleged car accident. Her mother was pregnant with Lucia.

Afraid Lucia is not getting the care she needs, Miranda threatens to sue the hospital if they do not medicate Lucia and keep her under their care. She explains Lucia's relationship with Manny, and tells them about Essy. Nurse Bob is encouraging and believes in Lucia's recovery. Miranda...
