Summary
Namin hesitates to open her front door for Jisun. She thinks how much their lives have diverged. When Namin opens the door, Jisun looks disheveled and apologetic. Jisun asks Namin if she’s heard, referencing her arrest. Namin says no and instead of inquiring further, points to Ko, Jisun’s driver, and proffers that they make use of his services. They circle the neighborhood in the conspicuous black car--especially in Miari--looking for Mr. Hong. Namin, frustrated that she cannot even find Mr. Hong with a car, begins to walk around on foot. Namin stops in a local market to ask the ajumma who works there for help. She tells Namin to wait until she hears his trademark copper bell.
While walking back to Namin’s house, Jisun asks, “Don’t you want to hear what happened?” (66). Remembering their fight the last time...
