Summary

In Chapter 10, Ern remembers his father’s death when Ern was six years old. Ern references having another brother, but does not want to discuss it yet. Ern reveals that the state funeral he attended was not his father’s. Instead, it was the funeral of the police officer whom Ern’s father (Robert) killed. Robert died during a gas station robbery. He was found with a “syringe by his corpse” (76). Ern reflects on being the son of a cop killer.
