Lucky Linderman
Lucky Linderman is the main character and principle protagonist of the novel "Everybody Sees the Ants" by A. S. King. Lucky begins the novel as an intelligent fifteen-year-old teenager who has experienced years of torment from the bully Nader McMillan. Lucky believes his combative parents are cold and distant, and desperately wants a better life. He escapes in dreams and daydreams to the jungles of Vietnam, where he meets and converses with his grandfather, seeking to fulfill a promise to his grandmother to help his grandfather escape.
Hoping to give Lucky (and herself) a break, Lucky's mother, Lori, brings the both of them to her brother Dave's house in Arizona, where they stay for three weeks.
