Point of View

Every Soul a Star is unusual because it features three distinct points of view. The book is divided into often serial and otherwise simultaneously occurring chapters by the book's three main characters: Ally, Bree and Jack. In the earlier chapters, Ally, Bree and Jack's stories occur simultaneously, whereas in later chapters they occur partly sequentially. The story occurs over the course of two weeks that lead up to an important solar eclipse, so each perspective is closely related in time.

The three points of view are all first personal and are all the points of view of pre-teens and early teenagers. They are all apparently American as well. Beyond that, the points of view diverge significantly in terms of background, personality and thought patterns.
