Summary

In “Touch Me Like One of Your Island Girls: A Love Story,” after college, Mehana moved home. She had no money and felt she was aging “past her prime” (198). She was seeing someone named Karl, but could no longer orgasm (199). In an attempt to control her life, she had started working as an officer manager at Gina’s Talent Agency.

Mehana “ran into her old friend Patti” at Ali’i Coffee en route to work (200). Patti was working at Get Wild Productions. They had not spoken “since those uneasy years post-college” (200). Mehana, however, had seen “Patti’s recent sex video” (201).
