Chapters 9-15 Summary

Chapter 9. Paen tells Sam and Jacob that a demon told him Owen Race had the monkey statue. This shocks Sam because Owen Race is her other client. Paen demands to know why Race hired Sam, but she refuses to tell him outside of the fact that she is looking for a manuscript for him. Paen then takes Sam to her apartment where they finally conclude their experiment.

Chapter 10. Paen and Sam are in the car on the way to her office when she begins asking about the steps to join a vampire with his beloved. It seems they have completed all the steps except the exchange of fluids from the vampire to the beloved. Sam pricks Paen's finger and drinks the blood, but nothing happens. Paen insists this is because she is not his beloved. When they arrive at Sam's office...
