Grove Park Inn and Resort
Grove Park Inn and Resort is where foreigners are being detained during World War II and where Cowney and Essie take summer jobs. The facility is still basically being run as if it is a tourist destination rather than a prison camp with the exception of barbed wire fences, warning signs, and military guards. Cowney describes his first look at the interior, which is still beautiful. There is a dining hall separate from the main building and Cowney notices that they are eating well though most Americans are coping with harsh rationing because of the war.
