Summary
In the underworld, the father struggles to remember how to do the jitterbug. Gradually, he remembers, and he dances with an imaginary partner. He enjoys himself. Meanwhile, in the world above, Orpheus and Eurydice are dancing at their wedding. They sing the 1939 song, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree (with Anyone Else but Me).
In the underworld, Eurydice's father stops dancing the jitterbug. He suddenly rushes offstage, just as he did in Scene Two. In the world above, Eurydice says the singing and dancing has made her feel hot. She needs another drink, so she says she will go to the well. She promises she will return, kissing him.
The Nasty Interesting Man is still at the well. He tells Eurydice that he has a letter that is addressed to her, and it is from her father. Eurydice says that is...
