Point of View

Escaping Peril is written in third-person from the limited perspective of Peril, a SkyWing dragon. She has so much heat that she is unable to touch anyone without killing them. She served as Queen Scarlet's weapon, killing many dragons for Scarlet's entertainment over the years. The result is that all the other dragons fear and hate Peril, meaning she has never had a friend and has spent most of her life alone. Living in this way has affected her ability to interact with other dragons. She tends to distrust everyone. She also tends to immediately consider ways to retaliate when anyone or anything annoys her. The exception to this is Clay, who is the only dragon she has encountered who can touch her without dying. This has made her incredibly devoted to Clay.
