The Witch and the Werecat Summary

Eragon wakes in Jeod's house and finds that Brom and Jeod have left. He wanders Teirm on his own. After hours of exploring, he is hungry and penniless. He decides to visit the shop of Angela, the herbalist. The shop is dark, and there are plants in all the windows. There are rocks and piles of scrolls and many other objects piled around Angela's shop.

Suddenly, Eragon feels a pair of eyes staring at him from the counter. The eyes belong to a large cat that inspects Eragon warily and then dismisses him with a flick of her tail. Eragon speaks to the cat with his mind, and it responds to him immediately. At first, Eragon thinks Saphira is speaking to him, but it is a warning. Eragon does not realize this and speaks again...
