Section 9: Chapter 12 and Chapter 13 Summary

In Part 3: Prisoner, Chapter 12, Enna wakes for short periods to be given a bitter water that forces her to succumb to her dreams again. She cannot feel the heat because of the drugs, and her powerlessness angers her. She wakes to Sileph who offers her plain water and brings her food, soothing her with his voice. He questions her about her gift and asks her to teach him, claiming it will help her position if she is a teacher and he will be able to protect her. Recalling the war, Enna realizes the enemy is trying to steal her weapon for their own use. She claims she cannot teach him. Sileph promises not to drug Enna anymore, and he has her clothes washed. When a guard tries to molest Enna, Sileph beats the guard and promises Enna...
