Chapter 6, Strip: Part 4, Part 5, Part 6 Summary
In Part 4, Jericho carries the bombe, or machine used to crack codes. It is heavy and futuristic-looking. The bombes are prepared for Shark. There are 12 working bombes in total. The drums on the bombes turn and the readings on the drums would be checked and tested. The bombes are there to give the cryptologists the Enigma settings, but it has not happened yet. The real work begins. They must construct another weather codebook. This entails a rigorous process of taking the meteorological data from the convoy and weather signals surrounding the U-boats.
