Chapter 2, Cryptogram: Part 4, Part 5 Summary
In Part 4, Jericho attends a meeting with cryptologists, two American naval officers and three British naval officers. Skynner, the head of the naval section, runs the meeting. They discuss how a convoy of 127 merchant ships departed New York on Monday and Tuesday. They carry food, supplies, etc. On board are 9000 merchant seamen and 1000 passengers. They include Red Cross women, Christian missionaries and a lot of children. The British navy tracked 46 German U-boats heading towards the convoy on Thursday, but it has not found the U-boats since then. The convoy has military escorts but it is the commander's first mission. Skynner's boss asks him if it is possible to crack Shark in the next four days.
