Summary
In Chapter 52: The Living Fire, they see the Knight of Fire and Byx smells a dog. Gambler says the Knight wants revenge as a human says he does not know where the group is. The Knight says he believes the boy, but does not let him go. He chants to the fire, telling it to burn his victim slowly. Byx says the knight is useful and notices that the boy’s skin is not yet burning. When the knight falls asleep and Byx recognizes the boy as Renzo, whom they met at the beginning of the novel. They cut Renzo free and Gambler knocks him away from the fire. Renzo whistles for Dog, waking the Knight. Gambler attacks the horse which bolts as they escape.
