Summary

In Chapter 18: A Crumpled Map, Byx struggles to sleep through her nightmares. Tobble says she is braver than he is, as he was unable to save her. Byx wishes she could fly and Tobble says he is always brave in his dreams. Tobble then tells Byx about a ceremony known as a stibillary that wobbyk have when they are 43 and have done something brave. Their three tails are braided into one. Tobble says his family will be waiting and Byx says her only home is with Tobble and that whatever Khara has planned is not Tobble’s fight. Tobble disagrees and Byx finds a map of the First Colony. She says it is based on a poem where the first dairnes are supposed to be. She wishes she had died...
