Summary
In Chapter 9, Mike and Ellie married without letting anyone in their families know what they were doing. Mike realized there were no members of Ellie’s family dedicated to caring about Ellie and what she was doing. Her stepmother was engrossed in her own life. She did have lawyers, bankers, and administrators of her trust fund, but they were mostly concerned with her money and the way it was spent. Mike asked one day if Ellie’s family would really throw a fuss about her marriage. She told him he was sure that they would and might even offer him a settlement to leave her.
