Narrator
The narrator is the main character of the story, and the figure from whose viewpoint the narrative unfolds. He is a writer of some success, though he admits to living off some of his family’s money as well. He comes into town seeking a place in which to write his next novel, and decides to rent a home overlooking the town.
The narrator is intelligent, well-read, and general agreeable, though not afraid to express his opinion and not easily coerced into action. He has a weakness for women and female characters often comment on how well he portrays women in his books, telling him that he understands them quite well. This results in his sleeping with several key female figures in the novel, including Zuhal, Kamile, and Sümbül.
