Summary
Chapter 11 focuses on two Richards, Richard Kapit and Richard Sackler. Both Richards study at Columbia and become friends when Richard Kapit needs a roommate. Richard Sackler, son of Raymond Sackler, is tremendously wealthy and always generous to his less-fortunate friend, but Kapit begins to grow uneasy about his status as the perennial guest. One evening after drinking wine with dinner, Richard Kapit blows up at Richard Sackler. Richard Sackler could not have been more surprised. He does not seem to have much empathy about how it must feel not to be able to pay one's own way. Sackler seems to lack the ability to reflect in this way.
