Summary
Chapter 7 opens with the history of the ancient Egyptian Temple of Dendur and its eventual home in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Arthur, Mortimer, and Raymond provided an enormous sum towards this acquisition and made very specific requests for how their names should be prominently displayed beside the relic. Chapter 8 shifts the focus to Mortimer Sackler, the middle brother who traveled almost constantly to Europe and actually renounced his American citizenship in 1974. Mortimer had become estranged from his first wife, Muriel Lazarus, and had grown close to Geri Wimmer. In time, they married. Mortimer's relationships with his children from his first wife became strained, especially his relationship with Robert (Bobby).
