Chapter 21

Megan’s parents, Sheila and Daniel, stop by before taking Alexis out for ice cream. Daniel asks Emma to come and sit by Papa, but Emma freezes. Daniel then heads into the kitchen, and Peter asks Emma what is wrong. Emma is confused and worries about names. Peter says that everyone has their own names. Emma consents to calling Daniel “Grandpa,” and then begins to warm up to him. Alexis’s birthday party at the go-kart track and mini-golf course is perfect. Wilma, who runs the place along with her husband, has arranged for her famous, pro-golf-playing son, Stephen Brown, to meet Alexis. Megan also checks her phone to see if Laurie has responded to any of her messages. She hopes a man will not come between them.
