Summary

Chapter 16

Station Beach is packed. Megan, Hannah, Alexis, and Emma set up a little spot for themselves. Then, they go and get ice cream. Alexis goes to see her friends Hailey and Taylor. Hannah and Emma work on building a sand castle. Megan relaxes, doing a little reading, watching Hannah and Emma from time to time. Finally, looking up, she can’t find Emma or Hannah. Peter arrives, and she explains the situation. She also reflects on how Emma first disappeared –by wandering out of the house through the door.

Peter assures Megan that they will find Emma and Hannah. A woman in a red bikini brings them along. She explains that they knew Emma back when Emma lived with Jack and Dottie and their children would get together for play dates. The woman is Sherri. Her daughter is Marie, who is...
