Summary
Chapter 11
Dottie’s journal recounts more of her memory missing in the second week of December. She hears about a missing girl on the radio, but she doesn’t connect it to Emmie. Dottie promises her daughter Mary, who is in Heaven, that she will be a better grandmother than she was a mother.
Megan sits out on the bench swing in the early summer evening. She has suspicions about Peter working so late, but she also envies the closeness which is growing between Emma and Peter. Inside, the girls fuss about sharing popcorn. Megan is waiting for Peter to get home, so she can have a girls’ night out with Laurie. Laurie shows up a little early. Laurie asks if Megan is ready for Alexis’s birthday, which is in five days, but Megan has forgotten all about it. Peter gets home...
