Apple Store

The Apple Store is the opening setting for the novel. Penny is visiting this store with her mother to purchase her long-awaited new iPhone. Instead of paying attention to Penny, Celeste flirts with the father of one of Penny’s peers. Penny is embarrassed by her mother’s behavior and tells Celeste that she is stupid for not realizing that she is flirting with men, not networking.

House Coffee

House Coffee is the coffee shop where Sam works and lives. Penny and Sam see each other for the first time when Jude asks Penny to meet her at this shop. Penny returns to the restaurant unwillingly with her mother and Jude when Celeste comes to visit Penny. Later, Penny pays a surprise visit to Sam at the shop, texting him to say she is on the porch swing. This visit comes when the two start communicating again...
