Chapter 17, The Farewell Summary and Analysis
Many angels surrounded Ms. Eadie once the decision was made and began to sing. Ms. Eadie realized that no one was insignificant to these magnificent beings. Ms. Eadie saw a vision of Earth once more and saw people struggling with angels singing above them, overwhelmed by the idea of being equal among these beings. Ms. Eadie said goodbye to her many friends, grateful for this experience but saddened to leave.
Ms. Eadie has learned a lot in her experience, but now it is time to go on. Ms. Eadie's purpose here seems to be to make it clear to the reader that she had agreed to go home, but she was not happy about it.
