House
Daniel, Cathy, and Daddy (John) build the house in the copse on land that used to belong to the sibling's mother. They use lumber from local trees to build it over the course of a summer. The house sits remotely in the woods as a space that is both theirs, but also part of the surrounding nature. The house is not an encasement apart from the woods, but one that establishes their own space within nature and among the creatures that live there. The house is a product of their labor and lays their claim on the land. The family spends their time in the house, where Daniel and Cathy cook for Daddy while he is away om a fight or play their musical instruments.
At the end of the novel, the house is torn apart by Mr Price's hired thugs and Cathy burns it down with all...
