Summary
Two weeks after the first visit, Mr Price returns to their house with his two sons, Tom and Charlie. Daniel thinks that they are strikingly handsome and seem to be a different breed from him and Daddy, "it was as if Daddy and I had sprouted from a clot of mud and splintered roots and they had oozed from pure minerals in crystalline sequence" (112). Tom asks Daniel if he shot a duck's corpse that Cathy is cleaning. Daniel says no, that Daddy shot it, but that it was not on Mr Price's land. Tom asks if Daniel ever hunts with Daddy and asks if he has a twelve-gauge shotgun.
