Summary

Jerry helps the first person narrator learn the parts of his body. He points to various areas, and reads off a "list of Words Worth Knowing" (1). Jerry tells the narrator he is "no spring chicken," explaining the meaning of the phrase to the narrator who does not understand (2). They spend the entire morning learning this way.

All through the night, like every night, the narrator listens to a tape to help "improve" his "Syntax" (2).

The next day, Jerry teaches the narrator how to yell. He explains that on "Job One Day," the narrator and his cohort must bellow the words "Bastard," "Turd," "Creep," and "Idiot" at whomever is standing across from them (3). Jerry gives the narrator the definitions of each word. The definitions are identical.

Jerry tells the narrator, formerly referred to as 89, that his name is now Greg.
