Summary
In Chapter 11, Rowan knows that Lark had told her she was a twin, but Lark had not said his name. Rowan instinctively knows his name is Ash, though she cannot pull up any real memories of him. Rowan is torn with the knowledge, knowing this proves everything Lark said is real, but feels a sense of peace because she has “found my other half, a half I didn't even know was missing” (113). She and Ash each struggle with their emotions, and Rowan rushes to hug him. He says a woman named Flame will soon help her recover her memories. Rowan then sees that there is a real tree growing in the Underground. Ash assures her she can touch it and Rowan rushes toward it. She stops when she realizes she is standing in dirt.
