Summary

In Chapter 8, Rowan catches the ledge, keeping her from plummeting several stories to the ground below. Pearl, Lynx, and Copper reach for her but Rowan sees them all as monsters and is afraid to take their hands. Pearl stands up and runs away. Lark arrives and Rowan sees her as the person she really is, and allows Lark to help pull her up. Rowan falls over the ledge onto Lark and for a moment, she recognizes Lark as someone who is a vital part of her. Lark kisses her and Rowan feels the connection, but also feels it slipping away. Lark says Rowan will have to wait to learn all the facts. Rowan falls back into her false memories and shoves Lark away. She then runs to the Center, hoping to see her mother.
